PlayStation has revealed a brand new trailer for the upcoming wrestling game AEW Fight Forever. As AEW Full Gear 2022 draws closer, it’s the perfect time to post the trailer, which has excited wrestling fans worldwide.
THQ Nordic talked a bit about the game and stated that it’s a journey back to the golden age of wrestling games. It will combine the nostalgic feel of an arcade wrestler, with Nordic stating that All Elite Wrestling’s innovative finishers and tandem attack moves will also be present in the game. As for the playable characters, they plan to bring the best from AEW’s talent in one game as career mode, mini-games, and more make a return.
The trailer showed off some gameplay, which seems to be a spiritual successor to WWF Mercy. It also features real wrestlers such as Moxley, Jericho, Baker, and Page talking about the game and what fans can expect, and we also get plenty of gameplay footage, including a Lights Out match and a few other match types. The trailer focuses quite heavily on Maxwell Jacob Friedman, which isn’t surprising considering that he seems to be committed to a title reign at the next Full Gear.
We also got a reveal of the game’s cover art, which features various prominent wrestlers, but fans have noticed that CM Punk is not on the cover of the game, leading to speculation that he may be gone from the company. Despite the previous cover featuring him front and center, there’s no footage of CM Punk in the gameplay. The reason for his absence is that Punk got into a fight during the All Out press conference, which led to his World Championship status being revoked.
The new cover art shows Kenny Omega at the center next to Page and Baker and then MJF in the next row with Jericho, Moxley, Danielson, Cargill, Sting, and Cassidy.
AEW Fight Forever will launch in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
